Scott holds a Master's of Music Education from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He is a former student of Ronald Pearl. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the music department at Carroll Community College and a middle school music educator in Carroll and Harford county public schools. He was a private guitar instructor at Coffey Music in Westminster, MD from 2001 - 2022. Currently, he is a member of the advisory board for Carroll Music Teachers.
